Most people think that lawn care ends at the end of summer. If you are one of these people, then this article is for you! Living in East Alabama means that we have milder winters and weather which means winter weeds are more prevalent. Some winter weeds normally seen in our area includes: Poa annua (annual blue grass), dandelion, clover, wild garlic and wild onion. Typically, winter weeds germinate in the late fall and emerge between January and March becoming a nuisance in your lawn when springtime arrives. When the amount of early spring weeds is reduced, this allows your grass to have little to no competition for space to thrive and grow during the spring green up. This is the main reason that fall pre-emergent lawn care treatments are so important.
